Kagami mochi（鏡餅）

Kagami mochi, Kanji is Mirror rice cake...??
It is a tradidtional Japanese New Year decoration.
Traditionally the kagami mochi was placed in various locations throughout the house.
Nowadays it is usually placed in a household Shinto altar, or Kamidana.
It has also been placed in the Tokonoma, a small decorated alcove in the main room of the home.
In my case, it is decorated on the table in the kitchen.

A Happy New Year!!

This year is year of the Tiger in Japan.
I would like to walk the world with dignity like the tiger on business, this year.
We wish everyone good luck for the coming year!!

Happy Holidays!!

It's a very merry Christmas.

My children's friends, words may not be enough for comforting you in your great sorrow.
But, still we must overcome the sadness and carry on.
Merry Christmas...

The sad news

A beautiful and intelligent lady died suddenly on December 20, 2009.
She was a mother of my children's friends.
She has 3 children. And her eldest son is a friend of my eldest son.
And then, her second son is a friend of my second daughter.
Of course, she is also a familiar parson for me.
The news of her loss comes as a shock to all of us.
Please allow me to extend my deepest condolences on...
